ABOUT US

What makes ECHOyoga different and unique?

No one yoga group in the Philippines today is really focusing on the need of niche groups like the overweight and heavy, the super stressed, the senior citizens or those with ailments.  ECHOyoga classes and workshops are meant to unleash yoga's therapeutic power for specific needs, and to probe our inner world towards a deeper grounding and “yoking” of which is what yoga means.

All of us ECHOyoga teachers are certified and trained in Yoga asana, meditation and breath focus and have a clear understanding of how to work with special needs and issues. We are totally immersed in life and living, either in the corporate world or the home, often juggling both, amidst the stress, as we try to live yoga beyond the mat. Our passion to share yoga is ever present because we have seen its transformative, healing and life-changing powers in our own lives.  We welcome you to ECHOyoga Community Center!

CIRCLE OF TEACHERS

Heading the team of ECHOyoga teachers are Jeannie Javelosa and Marilen Elizalde.

Jeannie E. Javelosa

Jeannie is a voice for wholistic wellness and an advocate for the sustainable lifestyle through ECHOstore and ECHOyoga. She has moved through various physical-meditative disciplines such as Sheng Zhen chi-gong, under Chinese Master Li Jun Feng and free movement meditation under Indonesian teacher Prapto. She was introduced to Sivananda yoga by Bela Lipat in 1998.  Jeannie started to teach yoga in 2002. Over the years, she has taken workshops under visiting yoga teachers Clayton Horton, John and Lucy Scott and Govinda Kai and teacher certification courses with Paul Dallaghan (Ashtanga Vinyasa), O.P. Tiwari (Pranayama) and Neil Barker (Anatomy) at the Centered Yoga Institute in Thailand. She is currently working towards another teacher certification under her current teacher, John Scott.  For the past 25 years, Jeannie has also been a counselor and reader, giving soul destiny readings using the astrological birth chart, or past life regression as entry into understanding a person’s traumas, life questionings and directions. She is constantly tapped to give lectures on meditation, healing, and consciousness. She has given such workshops and talks in Manila and at Yoga+ in Shanghai. She also writes about these related topics in her books and her nine-year running column entitled A Spirited Soul at the Allure Section of the Philippine Star.

Marilen Elizalde

Marilen is ECHOyoga’s Program Director. She was introduced to various forms of yoga by her first teacher Bela Lipat in 2002. She is a member of Yoga Alliance and has been teaching yoga since 2007. Over the years, she has participated in yoga workshops here and abroad under a number of teachers.  Namely, John and Lucy Scott, Richard Freeman, Cle Souren, Ryan Redman and Govinda Kai.   Marilen has also attended several anatomy courses under Neil Barker and David Keil.  She has also taken a Pranayama course under guru, O.P. Evelyn Villamor

Eves started her yoga journey in 2009 with her first teacher’ Jeannie Javelosa, who taught her the Sivananda style of yoga and some forms of meditation and pranayama techniques. She continued to study the system under Marilen Elizalde, Rebecca de Villa and Tesa Celdran. She began her regular practice of Mysore Ashtanga Yoga in 2011.  Over the years she has also taken classes/workshops with other international Ashtanga instructors Clayton Horton, Govinda Kai, David Keil and John Scott.
